Damien Touzé : « Nothing to regret »
«As you might expect, we had a very tough and very physically demanding race. We managed to be there up front with Geoffrey and myself. When I saw the riders in the breakaway, I knew we could go really far. We managed our day well. There is nothing to regret today, we simply ran into a stronger rider than us. I was struggling on the penultimate climb, Geoffrey did a huge job. He waited for me so that we both could bridge up together for the finish. This is my second medal in a French Championship (3rd in 2019). I wanted to bring back the title for the team, but I have no regrets.»Damien
Vincent Lavenu : « The team fought hard »
«We came for the title, but we left all the same happy with this beautiful bronze medal from Damien. He was there in the first breakaway, and he showed he was a man for the championships. The team had a good race together overall. Damien and Geoffrey Bouchard were important elements at the forefront, and we could count on them. Benoît Cosnefroy was very aggressive but never managed to bridge to the front of the race. Today we saw an AG2R CITROËN TEAM that fought well and stood together. This podium is a reward for that.»Vincent
Oliver Naesen finished 9th in the Belgian Championships. “We had an intensive and long day as always at the National Championships. In the final the first three attacked, but unfortunately, neither I nor Greg Van Avermaet could follow them. The result is a little disappointing. In the end, I took 9th place.”
Second podium of the season at a French Championship
After Clément Venturini’s French cyclocross title in January, the AG2R CITROËN TEAM is stepping onto a French Championship podium for the second time this season. Note that this was the second bronze medal for Damien Touzé since he also took 3rd in 2019.
