OLIVER NAESEN : “A lot of motivation”
“I’m approaching the start of the classics season with, of course, a lot of motivation and desire. The team has grown a lot in this area and that’s important. This is the kind of race where it is never good to be isolated, and there’s no question that if you have a stronger “block” you can weigh in more on the race’s unfolding. I am happy to be able now to share this with Greg Van Avermaet who is a good friend. I do not have the same benchmarks as other years as to my form because due to the cancellation of the races in Spain, I had to change my program. So I raced with a different peloton. Nevertheless, the level was high and I felt in good shape. That is definitely a good sign. The Omloop Het Nieuwsblad is, along with the Tour of Flanders and the GP E3, one of my favorite races among the Belgian classics.”OLIVER NAESEN
Greg Van Avermaet won the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in 2016 and 2017. He finished third in 2014 and 2019. “We have made it clear that we have big ambitions and these two opening races are important. With Oliver and Greg, we have two great cards to play with a strong team around our leaders,” says Julien Jurdie, directeur sportif.
Please note: Michaël Schär, whose wife is shortly expecting the birth of their baby, had initially been planned to line up at these two races, will be replaced by Julien Duval at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Lawrence Naesen at
